PONDICHERRY

We'd been outside for a while, and we were tired and hungry for something to eat along the way. Finally, the itinerary has been finalised, the luggage has been packed, and our very own "Paris of the East" awaits us.

We're heading to Pondicherry.

1st day

We, a group of five people from various parts of India, agreed to meet in Chennai. We had breakfast in Chennai at Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Bus Stand, also known as the CMBT bus terminus, and then boarded a bus to Pondicherry, covering 150 kilometres in 3.5 hours.

We've arrived in Pondicherry at long last.

We checked into our white town place, then rented bikes for 450 per day, relaxed for a while, and then left for lunch.

We had lunch at Sarvana Bhavan, a renowned Indian restaurant chain where the vegetarian meal is completely delicious.

We went to Vinayagar Temple after finishing our lunch. The intricate architecture of the hundreds of small statues and idols, in addition to the temple's lustrous golden interior, adds a spark to this beautiful temple. Although the star of the show is an elephant called "Lakshmi," who stands outside the entrance and bestows blessings on anyone who offers her food or money.

We went to the Botanical Garden after the temple because it's the perfect place for a couple to hang out, but if you're going with your parents, I recommend skipping it.

Later, we dined at Dindigul thalappakatti biriyani, where the gun powder chicken and hot biriyani would certainly pique your interest.

Then, to round off our day, we went for a lovely walk on the Rock beach, where the cool breeze combined with the full moon night added to our enjoyment.

2nd day

We awoke early the next morning after a long night and walked to Rock Beach, which is two streets away from our hotel, to see the beautiful sunrise. With the cool sea breeze, the scene was breathtaking.

Then we went to Murugan Cafe for breakfast, where the dry fruit uthappam was delicious.

Then we drove to Auroville, which is 10 kilometres from Pondicherry, where we had to park our bikes and walk for a while to reach the Auroville matra mandir, a massive globe-like building. At the meditation centre, we were surrounded by quiet.

Following that, we proceeded to the Chunambar Boathouse to reach Paradise Beach; the round trip cost was 350 per person.

We arrived at the paradise beach after a 20-minute boat ride.

There are many activities to enjoy at Paradise Beach, including ATV walks, horseback riding, rain dances, beach volleyball, and many others. There are some of the best seafood restaurants in town.

Later, we went to Promenade Beach, which is next to Rock Beach.

Then we went on a tour of some of Pondicherry's most prominent churches.

1. The Basilica of Jesus' Holy Heart.

2. Domus

3rd day

On the last day of our journey, we decided to visit some of Pondicherry's most popular cafes.

1. Cafe des Arts

We went here to start our day with a traditional French breakfast, but the wall art here absolutely blew our minds.

2. Xtasi Cafe

Modern wood-fired pizzas are available in a variety of flavours.

Finally, we all returned to our rooms and began packing our belongings in preparation for our departure.

It's time to depart from Pondicherry.
